About Vasiliou Law

Kaliopi Vasiliou has over 20 years of combined experience in the criminal justice system, bringing a unique and compassionate approach to her legal practice. Her background in forensic psychology, criminal defense, and estate planning distinguishes her as a versatile and dedicated attorney.

Ms. Vasiliou earned her B.A. in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she graduated with honors. During her undergraduate studies, she completed a clinical externship at Bayview Correctional Facility, counseling women nearing the end of their prison sentences to help reduce recidivism. After graduation in 2007, she worked as a court liaison for state-accredited alternative to incarceration programs.

In 2009, Ms. Vasiliou pursued her legal education, earning her J.D. from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2012. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2013. Throughout law school, she focused on New York Criminal Procedure and Estates, Powers, and Trusts law, while also completing a three-year apprenticeship under attorney Anastasios Sarikas, who later became in-house counsel at her firm.

To enhance her trial skills, Ms. Vasiliou attended the National Criminal Defense College’s Deryl Dantzler Trial Practice Institute, earning a certificate in 2014. Since then, she has successfully represented hundreds of clients in criminal defense, family law, and estate planning matters, including numerous trials resulting in not guilty verdicts.

Ms. Vasiliou is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers.
