Professional background

Prior to his admission to legal practice, Haydon was a senior investigator with the Western Australian government. His investigative portfolio encompassed financial crime, consumer protection matters, industry licensing, professional standards investigations and integrity matters.

Areas of practice

Haydon is admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the High Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand.

His practice focuses primarily on litigation, where he represents corporate and private clients in civil and criminal proceedings in all courts and tribunals. His commercial dispute resolution practice spans a range of industries, with particular experience in contractual disputes, competition and consumer law, and regulatory proceedings.

Haydon also advises on employment law matters and regularly represents clients in the Fair Work Commission.

Qualifications

Haydon's legal qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from Edith Cowan University and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.

His expertise in investigations, compliance and risk management is supported by a Diploma of Management, a Diploma of Security and Risk Management and a Diploma of Government. Haydon is also an Exemplar Global management systems lead auditor.

Community

Outside of legal practice, Haydon serves on the NRLWA judiciary, presiding over rugby league's disciplinary and appeal hearings.

Haydon also assists with the training of police recruits and detective trainees at the WA Police Academy as part of a joint initiative between WA Police and Edith Cowan University school of law.
