Sidney Mendis

Sidney is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

Sidney has over 35 years of experience as an advocate in commercial, civil, family law, criminal and litigation. He has studied at Melbourne University. He continues to provide advice on a wide range of legal matters, mainly in his specialty area in commercial law and commercial litigation.

On October 2017, Law Institute of Victoria Lawyers Journal featured Sidney Mendis, the Principle Barrister & Solicitor of Mendis & Gibson Lawyers in their article. The article shared how in 35 years of practice he has grown as a legal practitioners. Throughout his career he has developed his legal skills and knowledge as an advocate for the vulnerable who are not familiar with the legal system.

Sidney has developed exceptional people skills which has enabled him to excel in all areas of law. His strength stems from his ability to read people; this attribute is a credit to his ability to build an amazing team that focuses and cares about clients and their needs ‘’LIV Journal’’.

Moreover, Sidney has supervised and trained many legal practioner and mentored many lawyers throughout his legal career who are currently in different levels of the legal profession. He has contributed to the legal profession and the community with his continued mentorship and to give voice to the vulnerable amongst his other efforts.
