Introduction
Thank you getting in touch about a booking with a lawyer at the ANUSA Legal Service. Our service is free and confidential. We will get back to you to confirm the appointment. Please be aware that our service is only available to currently studying ANU students and students enrolled in ANU but yet to commence. We cannot assist with every area of law. Where we can, we will provide you with information about other free or commercial legal advice, if we can't help you with this enquiry. If you believe your enquiry is urgent, you may also contact our office via phone +612 6125 2444 or email at sa.admin@anu.edu.au to request an urgent appointment, explaining the urgency.
I confirm that I am a currently enrolled ANU student.
Please enter your ANU university ID number
please tell us briefly about the legal problem you need advice about. (Including important deadlines, if any, e.g. when your visa expires or tenancy terminates)
Please tell us the names of all other individuals or organisations that are involved in your legal query (e.g. fellow students, employers, landlords, person causing you difficulties etc.)
Let us know if you need translation (including language needed). (Please note that as translation is provided by an external provider we may not be able to arrange translation at short notice. Allow at least two days if you need a translator.)
I would like to bring a support person
I have accessibility needs (ie: transcription needed)
What legal services will we provide?
Thank you for booking with the ANUSA Legal Service. If we are able to accept your appointment request, we will schedule a free confidential appointment for you. Advice you receive from your lawyer during your appointment is free and confidential. That advice will be based on the information you have provided during the appointment. We may assign another lawyer to your request, if they are best placed to assist you. If we cannot help you, we will try to refer you to another legal provider that may be able to help. Our legal services are subject to the ANUSA Legal Service Charter.
How to prepare for your legal appointment
It helps us provide you with better legal advice if you come prepared to your legal appointment and especially if you have provided us with relevant information beforehand. The lawyer advising you will be in touch to confirm your appointment. Please send information and documents relevant to your legal query to their email address (if possible before the appointment). Otherwise bring along relevant information and documents to the meeting.
